Classes for May - November 2012
Pre-registration and payment is required for all classes
and is non-refundable.
We ask that you are courteous to others while taking a
class and silence your cell phones....and treat yourself to a babysitter.
Wednesday Morning Help Time
10:00 am - Noon
Taught by Shirley Marshall
$5.00 class fee
This is a great way to bring any project that you are having
difficulty with and get help. You don't need to call ahead,
and you can stay a few minutes or the entire time. So go
into that knitting bag and bring out that project and
let's get it finished!!
Wednesday Night Help Time
6:00 - 8:00 pm
Taught by Paula Daniels
$5 class fee
Starting Feb. 1st, Paula Daniels will be available
every week to help with any project that has you
stumped, or if you want to start a project that
requires a new skill, Paula can teach you.
You can stay all or part of the time. You don't need
to pre-register, and you can join us at any time
between those hours.
We hope this will help to accomodate those who
cannot join us during our daytime help class!
Thursday Social Knitting

Come join us and knit a while! This will be a great time
for all who would like a knitting group and don't need
help on their project. This will be an informal group where
ideas and conversation will accompany your knitting.

Monday Night Blast!

The first Monday night of every month we will host a Knit
Night at the shop. This will be a social knit night where
you can come join with other knitters in sharing your ideas
and projects.

Beginning Knitting
Saturday Mornings

Class fee $40
This class consists of two - 2 hour sessions.
In the first class, we teach you how to cast on, the knit stitch
and the purl stitch. The next week, we teach you how to use
the stitches in different combinations, how to bind off
and get you started on a basic project. Included in the
class is yarn and needle to get you started. Pre-registration
is required at least 1 week in advance.

"Seaming Party"
Taught by Judy Condie and Alison Barlow
Class fee is $40 which includes a manual with all
the patterns and helpful instructions.
Materials:
Each square uses 100 yards of worsted weight yarn.
There are 12 squares total.
When using 1 color, you will need 6 skeins.
When using 2 colors, you will need 3 skeins of each color.
When using 3 colors, you will need 2 skeins of each color.
Size 7 needle; Cable needle; Blunt tip tapestry needle;
Stitch markers; Row counter is optional.
The Building Blocks focuses on the development of a
skill while knitting a lovely square. Each square builds
upon the skills of a previous pattern, giving knitters
more confidence and knowledge. At the completion of the
series, we will have a "seaming party" to assemble blocks
into a sampler afghan.
Each short class will cover the pattern for the week
and get you started on learning the new skill.

Kimono Cardigan To Knit
Wednesdays, June 6th, 20th, July 18,

This wonderful sweatr is knit in 1 piece beginning at the
bottom edge! This will be a fun class teaching some
techniques tht ou might not have done before.
Casting on in the middle of a row, binding off for a neck
in the center of a sweater, and sewing side seams are
all included!
A great project for beginnners who can knit and purl.
Sweatr pattern is writtn for 3 lengths, waist, hip and knee!

Celia's Blankie
Tuesdays, June 5th, 12th and July 17th

Materials:
Size 2 needle

"Celia's Blankie" pattern
We will be using either "sock weight" or "DK weight" yarn,
whatever you prefer. We will try to do a "yarn swap" with
members of the class so you can have a larger assortment of
colors in your blanket. The teacher will give more information
just
before class begins.
Celia's Blankie is the newest pattern from "Cottage Creations"
and is a wonderful and fun to knit blankie. You start with
knitting 1 square, and by picking up stitches, you build your
blankie!
This will be a great class for mastering the skill of picking
up stitches, left decreases and right decreases.
The first 2 classes will be taught on consecutive weeks with
a break before the final class so you will have time to complete
your blankie before the last class where you will learn all
the tricks for a great finished edge!

The Wonderful Wallaby Sweater
Wednesdays, September 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th
and October 3rd, 10th and 17th.

Materials:
Copy of "The Wonderful Wallaby" pattern
Yarn and needle requirements in pattern depending
on size of garment chosen.
We think this is the greatest pattern ever written!
You will learn how to knit the sweater from the bottom
up in one piece, pick up the stitches for the pocket,
join the sleeves and finish with the hood.
This pattern ranges in size from child size 2 to adult XXL,
and you will find it to be one of your favorites to knit!

Market Squares Bag
Wednesdays, November 7th, 14th, 28th and December 5th

$40 class fee with 15% off for supplies needed for the class.
Materials:
5 colors (1 skein each) Cascade 220
Size 8, 24" circular needle
Size 8 dpn's or purchased handle
This class is a fun technique called "Entralac".
This is a great way to learn this technique while knitting
this versatile bag.
You will master picking up stitches, changing colors,
and knitting in the round.
This bag is then felted, and we will give you handy tips
for successfully felting!
